The Traffic Academy joins the ADAS Alliance

The Traffic Academy has recently become a member of the ADAS Alliance. As a specialized training and knowledge institute, De VerkeersAcademie is committed to improving road safety through vocational training. The safe and responsible use of vehicle automation, such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), is essential in this regard to enhance road safety and encourage the use of ADAS.

Within the ADAS Alliance, De VerkeersAcademie will contribute to the structural embedding of ADAS knowledge within the mobility sector. They do this by applying their knowledge and experience to training, research, awareness, and quality assurance for driving instructors.

Planned activities

The VerkeersAcademie endorses the objectives of the ADAS Covenant 2.0 and commits to carrying out the following activities for at least three years:

  • Development of ADAS e-learning modules

The VerkeersAcademie develops specific, practice-oriented e-learning modules on the operation, limitations, and safe use of ADAS systems. This is aimed at driving instructors, professional drivers, and mobility professionals to ensure accessible and scalable knowledge transfer.

  • Integrating ADAS into existing training programs

ADAS topics are being structurally incorporated into existing training courses, such as driving instructor training and WRM refresher courses. Adapting the teaching materials ensures the structural integration of ADAS knowledge within a large target group.

  • Field research into ADAS usage

Field research is being conducted into driver behavior and interaction with ADAS, including the evaluation of training. This ongoing research aims to provide insight into risks and behavior in order to continuously improve training and teaching materials.

  • Awareness campaigns and workshops

The organization of workshops, e-learning, and informational materials is utilized to promote realistic expectations and the safe use of ADAS. This helps to increase driver awareness and reduce overestimation of the systems.

  • Developing and harmonizing training guidelines

The VerkeersAcademie contributes to the development of uniform guidelines, certification, and the harmonization of teaching materials regarding ADAS. In collaboration with alliance partners and certifying organizations, the aim is to achieve a uniform quality of training and better alignment within the sector.

With this broad commitment, De VerkeersAcademie contributes to a joint learning process and to accelerating the safe use of vehicle automation in the Netherlands.

We are incredibly happy to be collaborating with De VerkeersAcademie on this!
