Q: What is the ADAS Alliance?
A: The ADAS Alliance is a partnership of over 60 public and private organizations in the Netherlands that focuses on increasing the safe use of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Q: What are the goals of the ADAS Alliance?
A: The ADAS Alliance is committed to increasing the safe use of ADAS. The ADAS Alliance focuses on Dutch ADAS users, sometimes directly, but primarily through the network of ADAS Alliance members.
Q: How can I, as an organization, participate in the ADAS Alliance?
A: Any organization wishing to participate in the ADAS Alliance endorses the ADAS Convenant 2.0 and will also have to submit an ADAS Implementation Plan. This implementation plan describes how the organization will contribute to the objectives of the ADAS Alliance. The ADAS Core Team will assess this implementation plan.
Q: Is the ADAS Alliance a quality mark?
A: No. The ADAS Alliance is not a quality mark but expresses the intention of participating organizations to jointly give substance to the ADAS Convenant 2.0.

A: In principle, all ADAS fall under the ADAS Covenant 2.0, but the focus is on systems with a proven positive impact on road safety, such as: Intelligent Speed Assistance, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Q: Why is such a covenant necessary?
A: Research shows that approximately 30% of Dutch drivers don't know what ADAS is or which systems are installed in their cars. Education about ADAS and its safe use is crucial for road safety.
Q: Which organizations are involved in the ADAS Alliance?
A: There is an ADAS Core Team consisting of: RAI Vereniging, Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, ANWB, VNA, RDW, Dutch Association of Insurers, and BOVAG. Furthermore, over forty organizations actively participate, including SWOV, TNO, various provinces, trade associations, and suppliers.
Q: How can motorists and businesses benefit?
A: Increased awareness can lead to safer use and satisfaction among users. Because participating organizations contribute to training, information dissemination, and research, knowledge about ADAS (and its effectiveness and safe use) is increased.
Q: What is the influence of EU regulations and type-approval?
A: The EU has mandated various ADAS since 2021 through the General Safety Regulation II. The ADAS Covenant 2.0 focuses on additional systems that will be further promoted in the coming years, in addition to the mandatory ADAS.
