Patrick Greven-Kogler: "Trust starts with knowledge."
Patrick Greven-Kogler has been Policy Advisor for Sustainability and Technology at the RAI Association for a year and a member of the core team of the ADAS Alliance. With over twenty years of experience in the automotive industry—including in homologation and product management—he operates at the intersection of technology, regulations, and market implementation.
Europe as a starting point
For the RAI Association, ADAS development begins in Europe. New vehicle and safety requirements are largely established at the European level. In his role, Patrick is closely involved in these laws and regulations and maintains close contact with members: manufacturers and importers who must actually implement driver assistance systems in their vehicles.
For the RAI Association, it is essential that regulations are clear, enforceable, and harmonized. National deviations or additional requirements can lead to delays, additional costs, and complexity in the rollout of safety innovations. A consistent European framework, adopted as effectively as possible nationally, is therefore crucial to effectively promote innovation and road safety.
Why become involved in the ADAS Alliance?
The ADAS Alliance brings together policy, practice, and user perspectives. For Patrick, that's where the added value lies: collaboration within the entire ecosystem.
ADAS systems are developing rapidly. By working together as a sector, government, and social partners, we ensure that technological innovation truly leads to safe use on the road. Legislation alone isn't enough – acceptance, knowledge, and correct application are just as important.
ADAS as an intermediate step towards further vehicle automation
Patrick sees the rise of ADAS as an important transitional phase toward further automated driving. These systems are becoming increasingly intelligent and better integrated into vehicles. This not only stimulates product development but also demonstrably increases the safety of both drivers and other road users.
His experience in homologation and product management helps to translate technological possibilities into realistic implementation in the market – within the framework of legislation and regulations.
Call to the driver
"Familiarize yourself with the systems in your vehicle. ADAS can only contribute to safety if drivers understand what the system does and doesn't do. Trust starts with knowledge."
