Dyon van Stigt (BOVAG): “The use of driver assistance systems starts with the correct functioning of the systems.”
Dyon van Stigt is a Mobility and Road Safety Policy Advisor at BOVAG and a core team member within the alliance. Road safety is a crucial pillar of BOVAG's strategic direction. Therefore, Dyon's clear mission is to champion the interests of its more than 8,000 affiliated members and the safety of road users.
Politics and support
With a strong background in politics, Dyon understands like no other how complex policy processes can be. He knows that a good idea only has an impact if it garners sufficient support from both the government and practitioners on the ground. Change in mobility requires a shared vision.
"The use of driver assistance systems starts with ensuring they function correctly. You need to be able to trust that they work, so you'll want to use them, and that increases road safety," says Dyon.
The crucial role of the entrepreneur
The entrepreneurs within BOVAG form the link between technology and the end user. Their role in the proper functioning and acceptance of ADAS systems is essential:
New milestone: Insight into ADAS data
Until recently, a major sticking point was the lack of transparency about exactly which systems were installed in a specific car. This will change starting in March/April; car companies will finally be able to see which ADAS systems are installed in each vehicle.
"This is a fantastic result, and we at BOVAG have worked hard to achieve it. Business owners want to provide their customers with the correct information and explain how safety systems work. That's only possible if you know with 100% certainty what's installed on a car."
With this insight, BOVAG members can fulfill their advisory role even better, which directly contributes to consumer confidence in modern vehicle technology.
